Marvel at the beauty of the birth process captured in each photo

Birth photos show us the extraordinary power of mothers.

The International Association of Professional Birth Photographers (IAPBP) has announced the winners of its annual birth photography competition of the year. Each image has its own story to tell, but they are all equally amazing and breathtaking.

The judges of the IAPBP competition had a hard time judging the awards because of the many amazing photos. The winners were selected based on the following criteria: technical, artistic and emotional.

And photographers seem to each year try to outdo themselves. For the first time in the competition's history, which began in 2011, a photographer has won the top prize twice. It was photographer Marijke Thoen - who won first prize in 2016 for her beautiful underwater birth image, but in 2018 she continued to win first prize with a photo with an interesting secret. Lyndsay Stradner, head of IAPBP, said: " The beautiful baby in the 2016 photo is now a sister in this year's winning photo ."

The girl in the picture was born underwater and is now the sister of a small baby. And in the winning photo, Marijke Thoen captured the moment she was watching her baby brother's birth. In addition to winning first place, this photo titled "The wonderful first meeting of two sisters" also won the best photo in the Childbirth category.

Below are the winning photos of the categories of the 2018 Birth Photography contest.

As the winner, Marijke Thoen says birth photographers around the world have changed the way women see childbirth: "It's all true about labor." It shows how strong a woman's body is during labor and delivery. And these photos will inspire mothers, who will be more excited than scared during childbirth. ".
