The hypercars produced by Bugatti are often regarded as among the best in the world. Even in its most basic form, a Bugatti is a work of art.
This “Lady Bug” Bugatti Divo, however, takes the cake with its painstaking two-year paint work. It’s been a while, but the wait has been well worth it. This one-of-a-kind Bugatti Divo is painted a stunning scarlet and adorned with elaborate designs. The number of skilled workers at Bugatti is staggering. However, the Lady Bug project was so demanding that the corporation almost gave up on it.
Where did we go wrong? Applying the diamond stencils that give the Bugatti its magnificent patterns was one of the most challenging aspects of bringing this vehicle to reality.
The various curves of the Bugatti Divo made it difficult for the design team to apply the stencils correctly. Extensive effort in CaD just wasn’t bearing any fruit in the actual world.
How, therefore, did Bugatti succeed where others had failed? The design team went back to work on the diamonds, contouring them to the Divo’s precise contours. Considering the Lady Bug has almost 1,600 gems, this was no easy feat.
Painting came next once the diamonds had been applied properly. Every each detail of the Lady Bug was painted by hand. The buyer probably spent a lot of money on the paint job, since the price of a stock Divo is about $5.4 million. Regardless, this Bugatti is a great work of contemporary art.
