Ndubueze Melody, a Nigerian mother, has taken to social media to commemorate the birth of her son, Amazing, whom she greeted when she was six months expectant.
Melody documented Amazing's voyage from birth, through his time in the incubator, and up until his third birthday by sharing photographs of his remarkable transformation despite being born prematurely. The ecstatic Nigerian mother wrote:
“HBD
We gave you the moniker Amazing Nikechukwu Evra due to the enigma surrounding your birth.
You horrifyingly emerged from the womb a day before your seventh month...yes, you read that correctly (approximately the last day of your sixth month).
As you were too fragile and immature to survive, oxygen and other equipment were set up to assist in your survival, and you were swiftly transferred to the "baby unit." This was a huge shock.
The unit resembles a futuristic control room; it is extremely heated and filled with numerous blinking lights, beeping monitors, and other mysterious pieces of equipment. Among these items are incubators.
My infant was at the center of a tangle of tubes, surrounded by equipment inside the incubator (your father and I were separated from you and could only see you through the glass window of the room; this was done to prevent him from contracting an infection from the outside world). Oh, how heartbreaking it is to be separated from your long-awaited miracle.
God, my husband, my pastor and members, my parents, siblings, in-laws, and a very small number of bossom friends saw me through and restored my faith.
My Son inside the incubator appeared very differently than I had anticipated. (Newborn infants never resemble the bouncing packages depicted in nappy commercials, but a baby born prematurely will be at an earlier stage of development and may therefore appear quite differently than anticipated) He had a very red skin, his eyes hadn't sprouted yet, very little noise, and an undeveloped mouth, so he fed (from extracted breast milk from my breast through a tube fixed from his mouth down to his stomach for 3months consecutively, with 2 times blood transfusions and lots of injections through a cannula implanted on his forehead for months, and God miraculously brought us through.
Today is my son's third birthday, and I, along with his father, aunts, and brothers, are giving him everything we have. And I hope you live a life replete with tenderness.
Your words of prayer will have a positive impact on his life.
Hbd our extraordinary son.."
