A woman from South Africa has recently given birth to 10 babies, potentially setting a new Guinness World Record for the most children born in a single delivery. Gosiamé Thamara Sithole, 37, delivered seven boys and three girls at a hospital in Pretoria.
Sithole's husband expressed their surprise and joy upon learning the news of having 10 babies. They had only anticipated eight children during the pregnancy, as she had previously given birth to twins and was excited about having more children.
However, the couple faced criticism and skepticism about the multiple births, with some people claiming it to be a hoax. To counter these doubts, Sithole and her husband provided medical records and ultrasound scans as evidence, and the hospital also confirmed the delivery.
If verified, the birth of the 10 babies could break the current Guinness World Record for the most children born in a single delivery, which is currently held by Nadya Suleman, who gave birth to octuplets in 2009. The Guinness World Records organization is still reviewing the evidence before confirming the new record.
While multiple births such as twins and triplets are not uncommon, giving birth to 10 babies is extremely rare. Typically, such a large multiple birth is attributed to fertility treatments, but Sithole and her husband claim that the conception occurred naturally.
