The condition affects only 1.5% of the world's population and increases the risk of developing melanoma in those affected. Doctors required six days to diagnose Luna's condition following her March 2019 birth."

A Russian surgeon contacted her parents two years ago to offer assistance. However, disappointment ensued when their visa expired and they were required to return to the United States.

"The final operation was postponed and they were compelled to return home. Now they must endure an agonizing delay to learn when they can return for the girl's final surgery.

Carol, the girls' mother, posted on Instagram that they were required to return home. She stated, "We had three days to purchase a plane ticket and return to the United States because our visa expired yesterday." I believed we would be able to complete all of the operations, but no. Now it is time to await the return of the Russian consulate's authorization.

Luna was born with a congenital melanocytic nevus, a rare form of skin disorder, in South Florida, United States. The condition caused her to be born with a dark birthmark on her face, earning her the moniker 'Batgirl'

Doctors in the United States had previously informed Carol that removing the mark would require a series of approximately 100 high-risk laser interventions.
