Chahad Kumar, an Indian baby girl, was welcomed into the world like any other child, and her parents named her with love and hope. However, four months after her birth, Chahad's life took an unexpected turn as she started gaining weight rapidly. By the time she reached eight months old, her weight had reached a staggering 20kg, equivalent to the average weight of a 6-year-old child.
Deeply concerned about their daughter's health, Chahad's father took her to the hospital for a thorough examination. After several tests, the doctors diagnosed her with a rare condition called "Leptin deficiency," a disease with only 51 known cases worldwide.
This condition caused Chahad to constantly feel hungry, leading to continuous overeating and subsequent obesity. She needed to eat frequently, making her unable to stand up and only able to sit or lie on the ground. Her parents had to feed her immediately whenever she cried due to her constant hunger.
The extreme weight gain posed multiple challenges for the family. Chahad's weight made it impossible for them to take her outside, restricting them to stay close to their home. Additionally, her excess weight led to serious breathing and sleep problems, leaving her struggling to breathe at times.
Even the doctors were perplexed by Chahad's condition, as her unusually thick skin made it incredibly difficult to obtain a blood sample for accurate diagnosis. The medical team tried multiple times but couldn't get conclusive results.
At the age of more than two years old, Chahad's weight had soared to over 50kg. Her excessive weight prevented her from walking on her own, and both parents had to support her whenever they needed to take her somewhere.
Despite the challenges, Chahad's parents remain dedicated to finding the best possible care and solutions for their daughter's unique condition. Her story is one of resilience, love, and determination in the face of adversity.
