The Hilarious Truth Behind the Viral Maternity Photos: It's a Father's Fun Surprise!

When a tweet showcasing what seemed to be a grown man posing for a maternity shoot caught our attention, we were thoroughly impressed. The caption, "Pregnant wife refused the photo shoot, so the husband did it, because he already paid for it," surely piqued everyone's curiosity.

The photographs appeared to be incredibly professional, complete with the photographer's watermark, leaving no doubt about their authenticity. However, Facebook users soon discovered another angle to the story, revealing that the entire scenario was, in fact, fake.

Upon conducting a fact-check, it was revealed that the images were taken at least six years ago and featured a Spanish father named Francisco Pérez from Málaga, Spain. He had arranged the photo shoot as a humorous spoof with his photographer friend, Martyn Wilkes, after facing an amusing incident.

The truth behind the photo shoot goes back 18 years when Pérez accidentally wrote the wrong name on his daughter's birth certificate due to a beer-fueled error. Instead of "Noelia," he mistakenly wrote "Natalia." To make amends with his wife, he agreed to pose for the comical maternity shoot captured by his photographer friend.

The pictures were originally taken in 2016 and involved Pérez, who actually has two daughters named Natalia (now 22 years old) and Virginia (now 26 years old). The social media accounts of Martyn Wilkes showcase all of the photos, and on September 19, 2020, he reposted them, playfully announcing that Paco (Francisco) is "expecting a beautiful 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 girl."

Though the story behind the viral photos turned out to be a light-hearted joke, it certainly amused people worldwide and brought a smile to many faces.
