The new mother, Josy Peuker, is making a splash online by sharing the video of her giving birth to her son in the Pacific Ocean. While the video was shared back in February, its now that it’s going trending on all news publications.
What Made Josy Take This Route?
27-year-old Josy Peuker in an interview said that she wanted to go for a ‘free birth’, to set an example that women can freely give birth on their own. “I got this idea in my head I wanted to give birth in the ocean. For weeks I monitored the tide, and so when the time was right for me to give birth I knew the beach would be safe for us.”et an example that women can freely give birth on their own.
Netizens Divided by Josy’s Actions
“Because the conditions were right on the day — that’s what I did,” the 27-year-old mother, who came from Germany to Nicaragua to give birth to her son. Her actions has divided netizens with one side lauding her for being ‘empowering’ and other side criticizing her for ‘endangering’ the life of her son.
What Does the Video Show?
In an Instagram video, that’s been viewed over two-lakh times, Josy can be seen visibly in pain kneeling in the surf. With waves crashing around her, she undergoes the painful contractions. The video then cuts to the moments after delivery, where Josy can be seen holding her newborn with the umbilical cord attached.
